2014 Vienna Program Day three

Finally the last part of our program!

SUNDAY, 21.09.2014 09:30

What would a visit to Vienna be without the imperial palace of Schönbrunn?
This “must see” sight takes us back to times, when Austria had a real emperor and his world famous wife “Sisi”!

We will meet at the station “Schönbrunn” of the underground line U4 at 09:30 in the morning. Take the exit “Schloß Schönbrunn” and up there just outside the station building is the meeting point. Then we all walk together to the main entrance of the palace and the surrounding park.
If you want to visit the inside of the palace, we check our tickets and take part of one of the offered tours.
Otherwise we stroll through the park with its wonderful flowers and fountains towards the hill on the far side. Up there you can already see the so called “Gloriette”. From this point the view over Vienna is excellent and to get a little rest we may take
a seat in the café inside of it. Back down we leave the park at the “Hietzinger Tor” to find us a nice place for lunch.
After this it depends on your individual schedules if we continue with some walk anywhere or you all prepare yourselves
for the unavoidable journey home.

Be there!!

2014 Vienna Program Day two

Hi again,
on we go with the second part of the meetup program here in Vienna

SATURDAY, 20.09.2014 09:30

Street, food, architecture, culture,…
It’s all in the bag for a great day in Vienna. Charge your batteries, check your memorycards and out we go!

Meeting point is right outside the underground station “Kettenbrückengasse” of the line U4 at 09:30 in the morning.
There are two exits, we use the one signed “Eggerthgasse” and meet upstairs at the exit doors. Take care, there will be many people around. The reason is the largest “flea market” in town, which takes place there every saturday.

As we walk towards the citycenter, we will eventually reach ““Naschmarkt”“, which is an open air food market with specialities from all over the world. Colorful, tasty, flavoury food awaits us while we stroll with the crowd along the food stalls and vendors. Some of them seriously shopping for the weekend, others just to breath in the atmosphere.
Going on we cross Karlsplatz and reach the famous “Ringstraße”. Along this boulevard you can find a lot of important buildings, such as the Vienna Opera House, the Parliament, the Burgtheater, the Vienna City Hall (in September Circus Roncalli puts up its tent right in front of it, maybe a motif for us), Museums, the University of Vienna and many more.

We walk along the street and here and then we look into a park or we make a short detour to take in the view from different angles.
Around noon we will reach the very center of Vienna at Stephansplatz overlooked by the monumental “St. Stephen’s Cathedral”. Around there we will look out for a nice place to get us some lunch.

After that I will guide you through the narrow streets of the first district to the Stadtpark. There we will meet Mr. Johann Strauß, the King of Waltz himself. Could be a nice background for our group shot. We then pass by the Konzerthaus and visit the “Hochstrahlbrunnen” at Schwarzenbergplatz. Back into the first district we walk towards Kärntner Straße, and from there to the Albertina, a museum with a good view at the “Opera House”. And finally I will take you to a surprise location, which is something, that no “normal tourist” will be able to see. I’m still negotiating this but it looks very good so far, that we will get it going.
So as you can see, there should be something for everyone inside the package ;-)
Don’t miss it!!

Be there!!

2014 Vienna Program Day one

Hi all,
here is the first part of the program of the annual meetup in September.

FRIDAY, 19.09.2014 18:00

Meet and greet and drink and eat at „Restaurant Columbusbräu“
We give us some time to get together with fine food and even better beer ;-)

Then we are heading by underground for our night photography location, the “Prater” amusement park.

Maybe we all together take a ride on the “Riesenrad” – a giant ferris wheel built in 1897 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of Emperor Franz Josef I. With its height of about 60 meter it provides a great view at the well lit city. Lots of possibilities to take pictures and have fun await us furthermore on this location with it’s many different attractions and fun rides.

After that we take the underground back to the city center, where we walk to the famous “Karlskirche”, which is wonderful lit and a real eyecatcher.

Finally let’s stroll through the old town of Vienna towards the so called „Bermuda triangle“ to find some location for a final drink before we all head back to our hotel to get a good night’s sleep. No need to look at the watch, the underground is operating the whole night through as well as the night bus lines ;-)

Be there!!

Bucharest 2013

2013 Europe Photoblogger Meetup

Last September we enjoyed the city of Budapest by the hand of Balázs Sprenc. He prepared an awesome visit to the tunnel that is being constructed under the Danube and also guided us around the city. It was really nice to meet again some photobloggers who attended previous meetups and also meet more photography lovers around Europe. Many thanks to all of you for such a fantastic weekend.

Now, our friend George Hreniuc, who has the honor of attending all the meetups, is organizing the next one in Bucharest.

It will take place in Bucharest, Romania, on September 20-22nd 2013.

We are currently planning everything. Check for updates on the 2013 Europe Photobloggers Meetup page. If you want to help somehow, please, contact us.

Planning 2012 Meetup

It’s time to look forward! We were not able to organize the 2010-11 Meetup in the end, but this won’t happen again. So let’s start planning it:

Where do you fancy meeting us?

Some people in our discussion on Facebook proposed Amsterdam, Budapest or Vienna. Do you agree? Barcelona is always happy to welcome you too, but we can meet us in any european city. Express your wishes! Vote on Facebook.

It won’t be necessary to organize an exhibit or so. Something simple and practical. Decide where and when to meet there, catch up and take lots of photos.

This one, will be the one. No more delays :)

Hello 2010!

2009 was a bad year for our colective. Finally, we couldn’t make it to Budapest as we expected. Since then, no one knew if Europe Photobloggers was going to die or continue as always. Chrys moved to the USA, the site was hitted by spam and nobody seemed interested in continuing with the project. After a few mails with Chrys, we decided that Barcelona Photobloggers was going to design a new simple site and try to continue with the anual meetups.

The new site will have two purposes:

1. List and promote all the Europe based photoblogs
2. Organize a meetup every year.

We are using Facebook to discuss about the next 2010 meetup. Take a look to this thread and say what you think about it.

If you want to help somehow, please, contact us. We would really appreciate it. We already have lots of work with our local collective.

We want to seize the oportunity to be grateful with Chrys for his support.

See you soon in…
